Blind Sri Lanka Army RWV Piyathissa Creates History with Seven World Records
Serendib World Records proudly announces a historic and inspirational achievement by Sri Lanka Army Infantryman RWV Piyathissa, who has established seven world records despite being completely blind, redefining the limits of human endurance and determination.
Through extraordinary courage, discipline, and resilience, RWV Piyathissa successfully demonstrated his exceptional ability by completing multiple long-distance walking records, earning international recognition and national admiration.

World Records Achieved
On 09th & 10th October 2025, in Battaramulla, Colombo, and along the Hikkaduwa–Battaramulla route, RWV Piyathissa achieved the following Serendib World Records:

01. Fastest Full Marathon (42.195 km) Walk by a Blind Person (Male)
07 Hours 36 Minutes 41 Seconds.
02. Fastest Half Marathon Walk by a Blind Person (Male)
03 Hours 31 Minutes 21 Seconds.
03. Fastest 6-Hour Walk by a Blind Person (Male)
35.110 Kilometres.
04. Fastest 12-Hour Walk by a Blind Person (Male)
66.350 Kilometres.
05. Fastest 50 Kilometres Walk by a Blind Person (Male)
08 Hours 59 Minutes 31 Seconds.
06. Fastest 50 Miles (80.467 km) Walk by a Blind Person (Male)
14 Hours 37 Minutes 31 Seconds.
07. Fastest 100 Kilometres Walk by a Blind Person (Male)
18 Hours 51 Minutes 12 Seconds.

Each of these achievements was officially monitored, measured, verified, and authenticated by Serendib World Records in accordance with established international verification standards.

National & Historical Significance
These world records were established in commemoration of the 76th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, while paying profound tribute to all disabled war heroes and fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Thirty Years’ War in Sri Lanka.
Beyond athletic excellence, this historic achievement stands as a national symbol of remembrance, resilience, and respect—honoring those who served the nation with courage and sacrifice.
